Unshakable Faith

Merriam-Webster defines unshakable as something firm that cannot be weakened or destroyed. This post aims to highlight two historical figures who demonstrated unwavering faith.
The first of these heroes is Job. Job was a man of unshakable faith. He went through trials and great loss, but he did not allow whatever he went through to negatively impact his faith. He lost all his possessions and his children.

We should recognize that challenges can be opportunities for personal growth, but they can also distract us from our goals by making us focus on the problem instead.
The life of Job teaches us that our first response to trials is to trust God. He knows what He is doing. Do not allow the enemy to doubt, blame, or even challenge what God is doing in your life. Like Job, we should never allow challenging times to diminish our faith, rather, we should use them to draw closer to God, knowing we will have greater victory at the end.
Sometimes, those around you may question your intentions and beliefs. This happened to Job with his wife and friends, but he did not blame or curse God (Job 4-31).

Joseph, another hero of unwavering faith in Genesis 37 – 50, mirrors Christ by dedicating his life to God and staying faithful through hardships. Hated by his brothers, Joseph was sold into slavery despite being their father’s beloved son.
From slavery to wrongful imprisonment, he believed that God was guiding him to a place of honor. Even when he had the opportunity to retaliate against his brethren, he refused because he did not want to sin against God.
Romans 8:35 – 39 says nothing can separate us from the love of God — NOTHING, not trials, not tribulation. The lives of Job and Joseph prove these scriptures to be true because through all that they went through, they were not separated from the love of God. They trusted God with their lives, and God turned their situation around.

  • When confronted with challenges, do you exhibit resilience like Job and Joseph, or do you react in a manner that aligns with negative influences?

Let’s close in prayer…

Lord, help us to follow these examples of faith. Increase our faith so we turn to you in difficult times. Strengthen our faith through each trial and teach us to stay steadfast and unmovable in Jesus’s mighty name.
Amen!
