7 Reasons Not To Worry

Matt 6:25 – God Knows what you need.

God is the one who created you and He knows what you will need to sustain yourself. When God created Adam He gave him everything that he would need, Adam did not have to worry about anything because His Father took care of it all. Just as how He provides for Adam in the Garden, He will provide for you too.

Matt 6:26 – Worry causes you to forget how to be thankful.

Spending too much time worrying about tomorrow causes a lack of gratitude and thankfulness for the present day. When you worry too much about the future, you allow yourself to miss the gifts that God has given you every day. It prevents you from accepting the blessings that day brings.

Matt 6:27 – Worry causes more harm than good.

Did you even realize that the more you worry about something the more anxious you become? Worrying is bad for your physical as well as mental health. There are so many problems that can be derived from worry. It affects you negatively, and those around you as well. Being fearful is a symptom caused by worries, and sometimes when you are affected you do not even know the root of the problem was caused by worrying too much.

Matt 6:28-30 – God knows your needs and He supplies them.

God takes of His own. He is a God who supplies every need and will not allow His children to be in a state of begging or borrowing. God will provide for your needs such as food, clothes, a roof over your head, and people who can love and share with you. Sometimes you sit and wonder to yourself how it is possible that all your monthly bills are being paid and you still have leftovers from that paycheck that you thought was insufficient; God is a God who makes something out of nothing, a God that multiplies your blessings. He knows what you need before you even think about it.

Matt 6:31-32 – Worry shows that you are not confident and that you have no faith in God.

Having a lack of confidence in God shows that you don’t trust Him to take care of you. If you put your faith in a God, a God who is so sovereign and mighty, a God who owns all that is on the face of the earth; then you will know what He is capable of doing for you when you trust Him.

The earth is the LORD's, and the fullness thereof, the world and all who dwell therein ( Palms 24:1)

Matt 6:33 – Worry changes nothing, but planning alleviates worry when God is included.

Why worry about things you have no control over? As a child of God, there should be no room for worry because you know who God is. Seek Him and everything concerning Him and He will grant you the desires of your heart. Do not let the want for material things come between your relationships with God. If you are too consumed by achieving the next goal, pleasing people, buying that house or that new car; then your thoughts do not include God and your mind is now cloudy with worry. Not that I am saying there’s anything wrong with acquiring such things; the difference is whether God is included. God needs to be first in your life and your number one priority.

Planning and worry are the complete opposite of each other. Planning includes God’s guidance; Worry eliminates Him.

Planning is biblical (Proverbs 16:3 commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts shall be established). Worry is contrary to the word of God and is a means the devil uses to distract you from what and who is important. Planning causes you to trust God to make it happen. Worry interferes with your relationship and your ability to trust God; which leads to fear — fear of the unknown.

Matt 6:34 – Worry doesn’t move the hand of God; prayer and trust do.

When you feel overwhelmed and your mind starts to feel crowded, just stop, take a moment, and usher a word of prayer, God in His graciousness will put a spirit of calm in you. When you feel a spirit of complaining and discontent creeping in, remember to give God thanks for what you do have because having in abundance doesn’t mean you will be happy, but learning to be content brings joy and increases your blessings.

Do not let worry occupy your heart, mind, and soul to the point where you forget who is truly in control of your life. Know that God is the one who brings true contentment and peace and when you give Him your cares and your worries; He gives you His peace.

Mighty God, help your children not to worry, but trust in you. Those who are struggling with the worries and cares of this world help them turn their worries into trust. Help them find joy, so they know that you are the source and provider of all things good. Give them a new mind when they leave all their worries before you. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
